   Brilliant season ends for Jackets at Clover in Upper State Finals
Blue Eagles nip Greer 4-3 in championship match... The Greer Yellow Jackets run to the brink of a State Title match ended Thursday evening in Clover with a gut wrenching loss to the Blue Eagles by the score of 4-3. Clover advances to the State Championship match to play Myrtle Beach, while the Jackets try to regroup and beging thinking about next year. What a terrific season the young Jackets had, and they return many of the same players in 2004 who carried much of the load this year. With some tough off season work, Greer could find themselves right back in the thick of things again next year, and perhaps, one more match. Thursday's match was one they could have won, & we'll never know if the long trip to an unfamiliar place in Clover, less than 24 hours after a tough win over Eastside on Wednesday, played a factor. Regardless, it was a great season.....the best in the last quarter century, for the Greer Tennis Team. Congratulations to Coach Edwards & the rest of the Greer High players & coaches for being confernce champs & making it to the Upper State Finals. GREAT JOB!! Jackets dump Eastside, head to Clover...  Upper State Championship now in sights! The Greer High guys tennis team advanced to the Upper State Championship match Wednesday at the Greer High Tennis Courts with a 4-2 vicotry over the Eastside Eagles. Greer, seeded fifth in the Upper State, is Co-Champion of the Enoree River Conference, and will play the Clover Blue Eagles Thursday at Clover at 6:00 PM. Clover won their region, therefore was seeded second, and are awarded the home match. This is the deepest a Greer High guys tennis team has moved into the playoffs in the past 25 years. Best of luck to the Jackets as they attempt to win the Upper State Title!! 2003 State Championship Tennis Brackets---Click here!! Jackets edge Greenville Thursday in playoff opener! The Greer Yellow Jacket Tennis Team defeated the Greenville Red Raiders on Thursday by the score of 4-3. The match was played at Cleveland Park in Greenville. As for the playoffs, Greer was seeded #5 in the Upstate bracket, while Greenville was #4. The Red Raiders won the Peach Blossom Conference title, while the Jackets were co-champions with Riverside. Riverside, who was seeded 1st, got that nod after a tie-breaking format was used. The Warriors were shocked in the first round by #8 seed Eastside. Greer will host Eastside on Tuesday May 5th at the Greer High Tennis Courts. Play will begin shortly after 4:00. Come out & cheer on the Jackets!!  Sims & Smith named "All-Conference"
