McGlothen & Barbrey recieve All-Star acolades... Two Greer High softball players were given postseason honors for their fine play. Junior Jessica McGlothen, and Freshman Rebecca Barbrey were named "All-Conference" in the Enoree River Conference. McGlothen, the team's shortstop, also led the Jackets in hitting. Barbrey made a big splash this year, coming on the team as a very promising pitcher. Also, Jessica was named to the "All-State" team as well. Congratulations to these two fine young ladies & Yellow Jacket softball players for their awards!!   Jackets say goodbye to two seniors after up & down season....
The Greer Lady Jackets at times showed lots of promise, and at times looked like a young team trying to find it's way, but overall the team comes out of the 2003 season with plenty of room for optimism. Greer will return all but two players, senoirs Megan Catafygiotu, and Sara Beth Couch, both excellent players. But they return leading hitter Jessica McGlothen, freshman pitcher Rebecca Barbrey, & more. Thanks to coach Turkenburg & the players and coaches for representing the best of the Greer Yellow Jackets this season. Special thanks to Greer Sophomore outfielder Crystal Carroll for helping get me game stories & scores for a lot of the games, and to Coach Turkenburg for filling in the blanks!  Jackets nip Clinton
Its was 0-0 after the 5th inning. Clinton and Greer battled the whole game and the Jackets came out on top, 1-0 was the final score and the run was scored by Sara-Beth Couch our catcher to give the Lady Jackets their fourth straight win. Tonight's starting line up for the in field was Sara-Beth Couch, Rebecca Berbrey, Tara Casey, Megan Cat., Jessica McGlothin and Chelsea Fowler. Out field's starting line up was Crystal Carroll, Lauren Anderson and Kacie Kimmons. A great play was made tonight by Chelsea Fowler, there was a runner on third and the batter hit a line drive straight into Chelsea's knee, a quick shake and she was back up and firing to home, the runner was out. Great Job Chelsea, way to take it for the team! Jessica McGlothin also made a great save, there was an in field pop fly, and little confusion was made about who's ball it was going to be Chelsea's or Glock's? But Glock caught it right behind Chelsea. ~Quick hand's Glock~ NICE WORK LADIES! ~Looks like The Lady Jacket Softball Team is on a winning streak! Greer vs. Union 3/28/03 SCORE WAS 7-3 Tara Casey and Jessica Mc. went 3 for 3...GOOD JOB GIRL'S! Two runs were made off of a line drive to third, batter was Crystal Carroll! ~Nice~ and two thumbs up for our pitcher # 1 Rebecca Barbrey! The Lady Jackets of Greer won their second straight game tonight with a 7-2 victory over the Union Yellow Jackets. They pounded out eight hits in their biggest offensive output of the season. They have now won two in the Enoree River Conference. The team travels to Clinton on Tuesday. Go Jackets!! Jackets take Centurians for first win!!  ~CONGRATULATIONS to the mighty Lady Jackets, on your win against Broome! Final score was 1-0, told ya'we could do it!~ Some amazing plays went down on the field tonight, including great pop fly catches made be Tara Casey our first basemen, and some great out's made by Megan Catafygiotu, our second baseman. Tonight we even experienced a pickle, first and second base's were loaded (Crystal Carroll and Chelsea Fowler) the base runners were told to steal and Crystal got caught in between first and second, she was finally tagged by the second basemen! Our starting line up for tonight was (in field) Sara-Beth Couch, Tara Casey, Rebecca Barbrey, Megan Catafygiotu, Jessica McGlothen, Chelsea Fowler (out field) was Crystal Carroll, Lauren Anderson, Casey Kimmens. After week of rains, Jackets fall to Riverside... The Greer High Lady Yellow Jackets played the Riverside Warriors tonight. The score ended up being 5-0 and the Warriors went home with the win! Riverside held the Jackets to just two base 2 hits. The starting line up was Rebecca Barbrey, Sara Beth Couch, Tara Casey, Megan Catafygiotu, Jessica Mcglothlen, Chelsea Fowler, Lauren Anderson, Crystal Carroll, Leslie Lowe. Greer had been plagued by errors in previous games, but made great strides in the game. Good try Jackets, keep working hard, we'll get am next time! Coach Turkenburg leads young Jackets into season....  The Greer Lady Yellow Jacket softball team enters the 2003 season under Head Coach Stasia Turkenburg this spring with a young team, but hopeful of surprising Enoree River Conference foes. The Jackets have but two senoirs on the team, Megan Catafygiotu and Sarah Beth Couch. Ria Baker & GHS girls basketball star Jessica McGlothen are the only two juniors on the squad as well. That means out of 13 players, nine are either freshmen or sophomores. The pitching, all important in fast pitch softball, will be handled by Couch, and by freshman Rebecca Barbrey. The key for the Jackets will be the ability to string some hits together. The Jackets have a beautiful facility to play in, at the Phil Clark Sports Complex behind the school.
