 Golf Team impressive in Conference Tournament, heads to State!
Team will head to Myrtle Beach for State Tournament May 12-13... The Greer High golf team finished second in the the Enoree River Region Tournament at Thornblade and will be going to the state tournament in Mrytle Beach on Monday and Tuesday. Riverside finished first. Players going will be John Barbrey, Davin Good, Micheal Lewis, Jeff Jones, and Derrick Oyervides. Barbrey made all region after shooting 39-32-71 for the tournament. Total team effort by all. Second day team total was 307, which is the lowest total ever in the six years of Head Coach Phil Smith. Congratulations for a great effort, and best of luck to the Greer High Yellow Jacket golfers at the State Championships!!  Golf team to tee it up March 13!  The Greer High Golf Team, led by Head Coach Phil Smith, is set to begin play March 13 with a dual match against Wade Hampton at the Pebble Creek Club. The Jackets should be led by senior John Barbrey at the #1 spot. Michael Lewis, Jeff Jones, and Devin Goode will round out the top four, while Derek Oyervides, Eric Peahuff, and Ryan Tonnsen are all expected to battle it out for the fifth spot. "The team has a chance to be a pretty good golf team", said Smith. "We have seven or eight guys who are capable of shooting a score that will count." In team golf, usually the lowest four scores out of five or six players count towards the team's total. Matches are nine holes of play, except for tournaments, which play the entire 18. Greer Golf & Country Club once again serves as the team's home course, and has several vantage points close to the clubhouse for fans that might want to come out and support the Yellow Jackets.
