Braves sweep pair from Yankees & Mets!!
Defeat Yanks 21-6 & take 15-7 win from Mets to finish the season with 10-5 record.......

What a great way to finish a season! The Braves took a twinbill from the New Yorkers Wednesday night at Century Park. The knocked off the Yankees & Mets in a doubleheader by getting off to fast starts in both games, while timely defense kept the Braves ahead.

In game one, the Braves came out hitting, taking an early 14-2 lead, and coasting to a 21-6 victory. Every Braves batter got at least one hit & Colton Henderson smacked one approximately 280 feet into left field. In the fourth inning Ryan Balardini got the first out on a grounder, then pulled an unassisted double play when he caught a line drive, then stepped on 2nd to double up the baserunner who wandered away.

After a short break & team devotion, the Braves again got off to a fast start, scoring five runs in the first inning. The Mets would close to 5-4 after two innings, but a seven run 3rd put the Bravos up for good. The Braves big moment in the game was the bottom of the 3rd when they kept the big Mets bats off the scoreboard with some nice plays, including Sam Spearman's throw into 2nd base from centerfield to force the Mets runner. The Braves would extend the lead to 14-4, and close out the 15-7 win.

That was a great way to finish off what has been an absolutely great season. We felt like the Yankees game was a game we should win, and we did. We knew that the Mets are a very good team, and a well coached team. We were fortunate to get off to a good start, and get some outs out there in the field. As you know, the teams that get those outs in the field usually win, and we had three great innings out there where we allowed either 0 or 1 run. On the other side, we had two at bats where we sent to max 10 batters to the plate. That added up to a real nice win against a good ball club.

Our record ended up at 10-5, and that looks like it might be good enough for 4th place in the league. I am very pleased with that, especially with 10 of our kids coming back next year. WATCH OUT FOR THE BRAVES!

Thanks again for allowing Chris & I to coach. Thanks to Mark, Ted, Greg S, Chris D, and even Umpire Greg M for the help on the bench this year. Thanks to Mandy for all her help with scheduling & snacks. Thanks to you all for participating the way you did & for being so willing to help in any way.

For next year, let's get the team together to start hitting after the new year & maybe go to one of those one day clinics at somehwere like the Strike Zone so we can be ready.
