After eight years of being on the bench as Coach Jeff Neely's top assistant, Greg Miller got an opportunity to be a Head Coach at Riverside. With mixed emotions, he left Greer and had begun the process of raising up Riverside basketball. But when Coach Neely took the Christ Church job this past spring, Coach Miller was Travis Perry's first call. Two weeks later Coach Miller officially returned home as Greer High's first Head Basketball Coach in 26 years. "I love this place" It's a place I never really wanted to leave, and to have the opportunity to come back here and be the Head Coach...it's just very special".

Coach Miller likes to play an up-tempo brand of basketball where tough defense couples with pushing the pace offensively. "Don't confuse this with run & gun. We want to force the opposition to play faster than they want on offense, and we want to get a layup on our end. But we don't just take the first available shot. We want the first available GOOD shot." Miller says with a smile, "there's a big difference there".

The Jackets return four seniors in inside players Jake Arrowood & Parker Long, while small forward Malik Archibald and guard Nathan Moore round out the senior class. Greer will have a couple of juniors and several sophomores that will compete for not only spots on the team, but substantial playing time as well. 

Practice starts November 2nd, but be assured that Coach Miller is taking every opportunity to have his team peaking by the beginning of the season. "We're conditioning & weight training. We played a lot this past summer, and every time it's legal for us to be playing together, we'll be on the floor".
