Ready for football!!!

Well Yellow Jacket fans, it is finally that time once again....FOOTBALL TIME!! We a little over a week away from the first game of the 2010 season and it is the best time of the year. After a roller coaster of a year last season, the Yellow Jackets are a year older and look to have been spending alot of time in the weight room since last November. It will be different not seeing Dominique Parks in the backfield but we have a good replacement in Dakari Sitton. He is a much bigger running back but as we all seen last year in the Clinton game can carry the load.

The Jackets seem to be much deeper on both sides of the football this year. We have a new addition to the coaching staff as we welcome back Mazzie Drummond to the Black and Gold family. Mazzie will be working on the defensive side and seems to already be making an impact with the players. After watching one of the jamborees this preseason, it seems to me that there are a lot of great playmakers on both sides of the football!! This only means that there should be a great deal of exciting plays throughout the year. The schedule sets up a little different this year both inside and outside the conference. With Riverside & Byrnes moving off the schedule and being replaced with Chapin & Rock Hill, it means the coaches, players and fans will have a chance to see new teams.

It is looking like the Greer Yellow Jackets will be a fun and exciting team to watch and cheer on in the 2010 season. We look forward to seeing Dooley Field PACKED on August 20th for the season opener against Seneca and for the whole season as well....get out and support these players!  All of us on the Yellow Jacket Sports Network are ready to bring you all the action for our 21st year and hope that you will continue to listen every Friday night on 800 AM. We love the Greer Yellow Jackets and want to make you feel as though you are at the game with us. Thanks to all of you for listening every week and for visiting our website!! We hope to end the season in Williams-Brice Stadium!!!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JACKETS!!

Neverending Dedication

Well first of all, CONGRATULATIONS to the 2003 3A State Champion Yellow Jacket football team. Those players and coaches did a tremendous job all season long as well as during the hard training in the off season.

Now I just want to give everyone a little behind the scenes look in the crew of the Yellow Jacket Sports Network. Let's start with the "Voice of the Yellow Jackets" Robbie Gravley. Not many people know the thousands of hours that he spends making and mixing commercials, making game highlight material for each week, constant updating of this awesome site and I could go on and on and on about all he does. He is truly someone that works very hard to make sure the broadcast comes off without a hitch and wants everyone to enjoy listening to every second of Yellow Jacket football on Friday nights.

Now on to the best color man in the business in my opinion, Van Brannon. This guy could give you any breakdown on Greer High football you could EVER want to know about. He is the most prepared guy I know and truly loves Greer football.

"Big" Chad Hannon is someone that does not get alot of air time but does an awesome job each and every Friday night with all of the statistics. He is also able to provide a true "inside" look at Greer football, as he was such a great player for the Jackets and also played at East Carolina.

What can you possibly say about Steven "Worm" Gay?? This guys has his own fan club. As you well know if you have listened to any broadcast, this guy is totally involved in every game. He cares so much for the players and lives and dies with every play.

This is such a unbelievable crew to be around every Friday night. The city of Greer and Greer High School is blessed to have these guys broadcasting GHS football over the airwaves. Each one of them are dedicated fathers and have such a great love to their families. I just hope everyone realizes the sarcifice these guys make to bring football to thousands of people that can not be at the game. They have never cared about being recognized for anything they do, but just love Greer football and having the opportunity of bringing it to everyone for 14 years now.

Hope you enjoyed this look inside the broadcast crew of the Yellow Jacket Sports Network. Thanks to each and every person that tunes into WPJM 800 AM or the in the internet. See you in August to defend the 3A State title.
