Greer senior Leanna Craft has been tabbed as the Greenville County Player of the Year, yellowjacketsports.net learned Friday. The honor is another in a long line of accolades for the three year starter who led the team in scoring this year. Craft and the Lady Jackets made the playoffs each of her three years on the team. This season the Lady Jackets won 13 of their final 16 games en route to advancing into the 2nd round of the AAA playoffs. The Lady Jackets finished the season with a record of 14-10 and while several players had outstanding seasons, it was clearly Leanna Craft who was the scorer, the leader, and the heart of the team. Jacket fans gor to know her as a competitive, gritty, team player that first and foremost just wanted to win. Coach Carlton Greene had high praise for Craft. "Leanna is a great player. We depended on her in so many areas. She inspired all of us to do our best. This past year in spite of getting double and triple teamed just about every game she still played great. The thing about Leanna is she is a great player, but she is also a great student and just a wonderful young lady. She was our leader and we will miss her." Last week she was named to the All-State team for the 2nd consecutive year, and will likely recieve more honors in the coming days.
